How to approach someone you don’t know…

Hey guys,

There really is no simple way to do this, you must overcome your fear and just do it.

The process is simple:

Walk up and stand as part of the group, always choose the person who is speaking to stand beside if possible, this will place you right in the action from the start. It will also announce you as having arrived and wanting to introduce yourself. Remember at this stage everyone probably thinks you know someone in the group, so you don’t look out of place.

Wait for a natural break in the conversation (this will normally happen immediately) then simply step forward and say “Hi I’m Tommy Tucker”. As you shake hands, look that person in the eye.

Work your way around the entire group, handing out a business card to everyone you meet and getting their card. (You may have to shake hands and then pass the cards around if you have many people to meet.) Then simply direct the conversation by asking what everyone does for a living and explaining what you do for a living. Remember it is not how many you know but how many that know you and know what you do… This is an art but none the less very important.

The Art of Handing a Business Card to Someone…

Hey guys,

This is vitally important if you wish to position yourself as unique. Have your business card ready to hand over, as you give it to the person let the card face directly towards them so they can read it but you must look them straight in the eye. They may try and look at the card but they will be drawn to look you in the eye. It is this eye contact that is most important. This can all happen at the same time as shaking hands.

In the Eastern cultures the business card is seen as simply a projection of your soul or self onto the card. It carries a great deal of importance and commands significant respect.

Remember when you give a business card out you are giving that person a projection of yourself. You must be prepared to follow up and commit some time to this person. Do it properly and the results will be worth it.

The Art of Receiving a Business Card from Someone…

Hey guys,

As you receive the business card look the person in the eye. This is essential. Receive it with both hands and then look at the card. Do not put it away until you have completed your conversation with the person. If that means keeping it for ten minutes then so be it. If you are sitting at the meeting then place the card in front of you and leave it there for the duration of the meeting. It will help you remember their name and also place a positive impression in their subconscious mind.

Sales, Advertising and Marketing – The Basics…

Hey guys,

Three words come to mind, when I think of this topic, all are critical and have various levels of distinctions.

So what is the difference between Sales, Advertising and Marketing?

As you begin to learn more you will find three terms that are very different and the same. For the definition of these modules unless otherwise stated,

Sales is the actual and overall process as well as the goal of what we are doing. We must focus on making sales through our advertising and marketing strategies.

Advertising is attracting new people to the business through whatever means. If you are trying to attract new people then this is advertising.

Marketing is the process of raising, changing or influencing of those that have been exposed at whatever level to your Philosophy, Products, or Business.
